As student representatives of the NDP student body, the Student Government Association (SGA) is responsible for organizing all campus-wide activities, such as Spirit Weeks, dances and pep rallies. In addition, the SGA meets regularly with the school administration to communicate the needs and desires of the students and works to bring about positive change on the NDP campus.
The SGA is comprised of more than 50 students who are elected into officer positions by their peers; additional students serve in appointed positions. Students serve on either the Executive Board or on a specific class council. Additional offices include the Dog Pound leaders, who oversee the student cheering sections at athletic events and the HopeKids Committee chairs who organize the annual HopeKids Service Day.
NDP student leaders are members of the Arizona Association of Student Councils and take part in spirit conferences, state conventions and summer camps. NDP also hosts student officer training in the summer for all student council members and club leaders, a leadership training day for newly chosen freshman officers and club leaders, and a mid-year workshop for all of the above officers. The SGA is a fun and energetic group of students who strive to make high school exciting and memorable for all NDP students.
