Garrett Budnik graduated from NDP in 2011 with honors. He received multiple scholarships and attended Seattle University. He graduated Seattle U with honors in 2015 with a double major in Math and Physics. In June 2016, he graduated from the University of Oregon with his Masters of Science in Applied Physics in only 1 year. At 23 years-old, he is now part of a team with four possible patents pending. As a senior at SU, he and his research group of three, were published on the American Physical Society website for physics.
Budnik took advantage of all the great opportunities NDP had to offer, and is forever grateful to the school. He noted that the "college night" offered at NDP for students and parents gave him "the best advice ever." He was told that to get a leg up in the field of science, he should apply to schools that allow opportunities to do research as undergrads instead of waiting until grad school. Budnik took that to heart in his school search and that's how he ended up at Seattle Univ.
For two summers, he worked as assistant to an astrophysicist with research. In his senior year, his research group, made up of three young men, was chosen to present their work at an international physics conference in Hawaii. When they returned, their research was published.
Budnik is currently working at the FEI company in Hillsboro, Oregon. FEI stands for Field Electron and Ion Company. The company has research and development centers all over the world.
