2009 turns out to be best year yet at Team Camp
This year’s trip to Northern Arizona University for the annual Team Camp, June 12-14, proved to be a great opportunity for the coaching staff to get a preview of what to expect at varsity tryouts in November. The girls got to know each other and found out they meshed well on the court, too, as the team finished in second place in their pool, beat the No. 1 team in cross-pool play, then finished runner-up in the championship game for their division, losing to St. Pius High School from New Mexico. Those invited to attend this summer: (l. to r. in the photo) Kenyn Cheatham, Genevieve Pirotte, Kelsie Sanborn, Anna Hughes, Brittany Bales, Emily O’Neil, Aleksa Krolls, Sammi Stolper, Nicole Bailey, and Monica Turley. |

Aspiring basketball players from a dozen different middle schools in the area turned out for the 6th Annual Lady Saints Summer Basketball Camp in the Dale Jensen Gymnasium. Coaches from the varsity and JV programs provided the instruction, while players from the varsity program assisted as camp counselors during the two week-long sessions in June. The campers were taught the fundamentals of shooting, ball handling, position play, and the basics of defense. Each camper was given a T-shirt, certificate of completion, and many left with Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury prizes for competitive events. |
